Are You Positive Or Negative?
We tell ourselves what we can or cannot do. We tell ourselves what we will and will not do. We talk ourselves into situations and we talk ourselves out of situations. Our conversations are both negative and positive. We have conversations with other people in our heads, as if we know what someone will do or what they are thinking. These are the conversations that often times prevent us from being successful. What’s Your Excuse?
Since prospecting can sometimes be seen as difficult, we find any number of ways to avoid it. We tell ourselves we can’t call our friends and ask for business because we don’t want them to think that we are “begging”. Or we don’t want to call them because they don’t like receiving phone calls, they would rather have a text. Any excuse will do.A Waste Of My Time
We don’t want to answer the phone in the office because really good floor calls never come in, therefore it’s a waste of time. Yet when another agent answers the phone they seem to get all of the good leads. And even if I do get an appointment from answering the phones, the perspective client probably won’t show up for the appointment. What Will They Think Of Me?
Then there is the question I get almost weekly, “How long should I communicate with someone who doesn’t return my calls or emails”? The conversation you have in your head says that you are being a pest, a stalker and you should stop trying to reach the perspective client.Success Is A Mindset
Each of these internal conversations can cost you a lot of business. Selling real estate is a numbers game. The more you put yourself out there, the more opportunities you will have for success. Being successful is a mind game. If you think you will be successful and do the necessary activities required to achieve success, you will be successful. If you are going to spend the time to talk to yourself, tell yourself what you CAN do, not what you can’t. Be prosperous!Enjoy less stress by having smoother transactions by implementing these simple strategies today!
