“I’ll Call You Right Back”
Aren’t those some famous last words! How many times have you been in the middle of a real estate transaction or at the end of a transaction…and left to wait? Waiting for the lender to call you back. Waiting for the listing agent to call you back. Waiting for the buyer’s agent to call you back. If you’ve been selling real estate for any amount of time you know exactly what I am talking about.I’m Still Waiting
There is nothing worse than waiting. This is especially true when one of the parties promises to call you back “soon” with an update. Of course you soon find out that the word “soon” is relative. So you have no other choice but to wait. As I have stated on numerous occasions…the buying and selling of real estate is an anxiety producing process. Buyers, sellers and sometimes even us real estate agents are sitting on pins and needles waiting for a response. And when nothing comes we get even more anxious. No News Is Still News
But what people don’t understand is that no news is still news. If you tell you me that you’re going to call me back with an update in an hour, I expect to hear from you in an hour. Here’s where the “no news” part comes into play. Please call me back in an hour even if you have nothing new to tell me. By you calling back tells me that I am still on your radar. When you call simply say, “I’m sorry but I don’t have anything new to tell you but we are still working on it”. Can you see how no news is news?Communication is Key
In the absence of facts it is human nature to fill in the blanks or put another way, make something up. And when we make something up we usually go to the extreme. Good or bad, that’s what we do. When you get an update that nothing has changed it just makes you feel better. Communication is key, even when you don’t have much to say. Be prosperous!Enjoy less stress by having smoother transactions by implementing these simple strategies today!
